No Country for Old Men (2007)

This is a solid movie. In West Texas in June of 1980, Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) is hunting pronghorn when he discovers the deadly aftermath of a drug deal gone awry. He finds a satchel under a tree with $2 million and takes it back with him to his trailer. Later, he remembers that one of the injured Mexican survivors had asked for some water and so he fills up a bucket to take to him. Moss is chased down by two men in a truck, but manages to escape and warns his wife to go stay with her mother. The money has a tracking device on it and brutal hitman Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) is determined to get it back.

The film was adapted from the 2005 novel written by Cormac McCarthy. The title is taken from the opening line of Irish poet William Yeats' poem "Sailing to Byzantium." The words are mentioned in the first line of the poem's first stanza: “THAT is no country for old men." The film won four Academy Awards: Director, Picture, Supporting Actor (Javier Bardem) and Screenplay-Adapted. Javier Bardem is the first Spanish actor to win an Oscar.
